Summer Research Fellowship 2020

Applications are closed – We are looking for excellent graduate law students, PhD candidates, and postdocs who will join the Legal Priorities Project for a fixed period of 10 weeks. You will take the lead on a research project, with mentorship and support from other researchers. The expected output is a research article or similar on a question relevant to the long-term future in one of our focus areas.

We can offer up to six positions. The start date is flexible, ideally between June and August. Due to the COVID-19 crisis, you will have to work remotely. You will not be employed by the Legal Priorities Project. However, you will be compensated via a generous stipend amounting to $5,000 for the 10-week period.

Applications must include the following documents:

• CV
• Research proposal (no longer than one page)
  • Describe a research project that you would like to work on during the fellowship. It should focus on a question relevant to the long-term future in one of our focus areas: (i) law & governance of artificial intelligence, (ii) law & governance of biorisk, (iii) law & governance of climate change, or (iv) institutional design & decision-making.
  • Please structure the proposal as follows: (i) Research Question (state the question you would like to answer as clearly as possible), (ii) Relevance (why is the question relevant for shaping the long-term future?), (iii) Methodology (how would you answer the question?)
  • Note that this is not necessarily the project you will work on.
