Renan is a Research Fellow at the Legal Priorities Project. His research focuses on improving institutional design and decision-making. He holds an M.Sc. in Criminal Justice Policy from the London School of Economics, where he was a Chevening Scholar and received the Titmuss Prize for Best Dissertation. He studied Law in the Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil, and is admitted to the Brazilian Bar. Previously, he worked as chief of staff for Justices of Appeal in Brazil and as director of an NGO that advocates for the rights of the Brazilian prison population.
